Fostering Environmental Responsibility and Occupant Well-Being

EAG Studio, known for their innovative and forward-thinking approach to architecture, has developed strategies for urban residential designs that promote healthy lifestyles. Here are some key principles of EAG Studio's design philosophies:

Biophilic Integration:

EAG Studio embraces biophilic design principles, incorporating nature into their residential projects. They prioritize the integration of green spaces, natural lighting, and views of nature to create a sense of tranquility and connection with the environment. This approach enhances residents' mental well-being, reduces stress, and promotes a healthier lifestyle.

Active Living Spaces:

EAG Studio believes in designing residential spaces that inspire and support an active lifestyle. Their projects feature well-designed walking and cycling paths, fitness facilities, and easily accessible staircases to encourage physical activity. By promoting movement within the built environment, EAG Studio aims to improve residents' physical health and overall well-being.

Community-Centric Design:

EAG Studio places a strong emphasis on community integration within their residential designs. They create shared spaces, communal gardens, and common areas that foster social interaction among residents. By promoting a sense of belonging and social cohesion, EAG Studio encourages healthier lifestyles through increased social engagement and support networks.

Sustainable Practices:

EAG Studio is committed to sustainable design practices that promote environmental stewardship and contribute to residents' health. They prioritize energy-efficient building materials, renewable energy sources, and water conservation systems. By creating healthier and more sustainable living environments, EAG Studio ensures that residents can enjoy a cleaner and greener lifestyle.

Universal Accessibility:

EAG Studio believes in designing inclusive residential spaces that cater to people of all ages and abilities. They incorporate universal design principles, including ramps, wider doorways, and well-designed common areas that ensure accessibility and encourage social interaction. This approach promotes equity, enhances residents' quality of life, and supports healthy and inclusive communities.

Innovative Technology Integration:

EAG Studio integrates cutting-edge technologies into their residential designs to enhance residents' well-being and convenience. This includes smart home automation systems, energy-efficient appliances, and digital platforms for community engagement and services. By leveraging technology, EAG Studio creates a seamless and connected living experience that promotes healthy and sustainable lifestyles.

Indoor Environmental Quality:

EAG Studio prioritizes good indoor air quality, natural ventilation, and ample daylighting in their residential projects. They employ low VOC paints, sustainable flooring options, and healthy material choices to create a healthier indoor environment. By ensuring a clean and comfortable living space, EAG Studio supports residents' physical health and promotes overall well-being.

Access to Nature:

Prioritizing access to parks, gardens, and recreational spaces within residential areas. These spaces offer opportunities for relaxation, social interaction, and physical activity, contributing to a healthier lifestyle.

Technology Integration:

Incorporating smart technologies and data-driven solutions to improve the quality of life for residents. This includes features such as energy-efficient appliances, home automation systems, and digital platforms for community engagement and services.

Mixed-Use Developments:

Creating residential neighborhoods that integrate housing with commercial, retail, and recreational spaces. This promotes walkability, reduces reliance on cars, and enhances convenience, encouraging a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle.

Healthy Material Choices:

Selecting low-toxicity building materials that minimize indoor pollutants and promote a healthier living environment. This includes using low VOC (volatile organic compound) paints, sustainable flooring options, and natural and recycled materials where possible.

Through these sustainable design philosophies, EAG Studio demonstrates its commitment to responsible and mindful design practices. Their approach creates buildings that are not only environmentally friendly but also promote the well-being of occupants and contribute to the overall sustainability of the communities they serve.

Strategies for Sustainable Excellence

Today`s green technology can turn your home into a mini-power plant: use what you can sell the rest to the grid and take power from the grid when you need it. Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in the strategies we employ to achieve excellence in sustainable architecture:

  • Solar panels: a 400-watt, 3-foot by 5-foot panel made by Sunsei sells on Amazon for 3000$. the average home would need at least 10 to meet its energy needs.

  • Micro wind turbine: the sky stream model from southwest wind power delivers 2.4 kilowatts- up to 90% of the average home`s use-for 12000$ to 18000$, installed.

  • Insulation: a typical home can cut 25% to 50% of energy use through simple weatherproofing and energy-efficient appliances.

  • Timer switch: a switch attached to a timer directs the power from the solar panels to batteries or onto the grid. during the peak hours of noon to 2 pm, when power is most expensive, the house runs off the batteries.

  • Batteries: Though not essential for a grid-connected system, battery storage allows more flexibility to go on or off-grid.

  • Smart meter: a commercial time-of-day electric meter shows the varying price of electricity. so the owner can use less and sell more during peak hours.

  • Electric car: by next year, this power system could include a plug-in hybrid vehicle. the car battery can serve as additional backup storage for the home and the grid.

  • Smart home technology: beyond the benefits of convenience and security one of the main goals of smart home integration is energy saving and energy efficiency. working together with the advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) allows the homeowner to create a network between their smart appliances, thermostats, lighting, and other electronic devices.

  • Grey water harvesting: greywater makes up around 30% to 50% of wastewater discharged into our sewers. therefore, greywater recycling offers us the chance to cut water use by up to half. our system will offer high recovery rates without backwashing, negligible residence, and energy.

  • At EAG Studio, we uphold the highest professional standards and prioritize compliance with industry certifications and regulations. We are proud to hold certifications such as LEED, demonstrating our expertise in sustainable design and our commitment to environmental responsibility. Additionally, we adhere rigorously to local building codes and sustainability standards to ensure that our projects meet or exceed regulatory requirements.

  • heating water with the sun: water for the home is heated primarily via a solar thermal system on the roof, although supplementary electric water heating may be used when needed. in addition, a photovoltaic solar array could be used in a net-metering system to help offset electrical consumption costs.

  • managing sunlight: a second-story deck shades windows on the first floor, so the winter sun lower in the sky helps warm the house, but the hottest summer sun stays out, keeping it cooler.

  • windows: windows are triple-glazed to minimize heat loss. coated glass helps reflect heat back inside the house in winter and keeps some heat out in summer. the largest windows in the house face south, to take advantage of light and warmth from the sun.

  • Heat exchanger: the purpose of the heat exchanger is to continually replace stale air in the house with fresh air from outside while preserving the warmth from the interior air, as the stale air from inside passes through the device, its heat is transferred to the fresh air entering from outside. in summer, when added warmth isn`t needed, the heat exchange function may be bypassed.

  • walls: for insulation and air-tightness, the Landau house uses a double-wall system for exterior walls, with a continuous primary air barrier between layers. a secondary air barrier sheathes the entire house just beneath the siding. the total wall thickness is about 17 inches, almost three times that of a conventional house.

  • Flooring: a concrete slab rests on a 15 inches layer of foam insulation. a sheet of polystyrene acts as the primary barrier.
